She spends time at each site ensuring each dog there has a chance to eat and get fresh water.  She makes note on any new dogs that are at the site and how they are integrating into the pack.  Katie will check for any injuries or signs of a dog needing more advanced medical care.  For dogs that are fearful, Katie will spend time just sitting, waiting and showing them that not all humans are scary .  Katie has a way of connecting with these dogs and gaining their trust.  She learns when a dog is ready to leave their street days behind and come with her.  These dogs are then fully vetted and officially become Ruff Start dogs, moving into a foster home and then onto finding their second chance at a forever home.
